Barbecue teams have been tweaking their recipes and perfecting their technique to get ready for Williams’ annual Barbecue Cook Off . This year the event will be at a new venue — Lazy Brook Park in Tunkhannock, (Wyoming County) PA. Proceeds from the event, with eligible matched dollars, will be donated to area United Way chapters.
Reigning Cook-Off Champion S2W will need to defend their Grand Champion title. The cook-team competition will be fierce as we look to grow participation from across the northern Marcellus region.
If tasting is your barbecue talent, gather up your friends to form a Judge team and help select the winner. Or, just buy a People’s Choice ticket and vote by donating dollars to your favorite team’s People’s Choice bucket…either way gets you the chance to taste awesome barbecue samples all afternoon.
The results of the judging will be tallied and announced that evening. The first place winner in each category will receive a wall plaque and most importantly: bragging rights! The Grand Champion will be the custodian for one year of the coveted NEPA Grand Champion BBQ Cup.
Last year Williams’ Barbecue Cook-Off raised over $60,000 to benefit thousands of neighbors served by United Way agencies in Susquehanna County, Wyoming County, Wyoming Valley and Broome County, N.Y. and these agencies will benefit again in 2015.
