Former role: Director, General Accounting, Transco Energy Company
Number of years with Williams/Transco: 22 years
Number of years retired: I retired from Transco in May 1992 and finished my career at Houston St. Pius X High School as Director, Finance, retiring in 2016.
Q: How are you spending time in your retirement?
We have three daughters and six grandchildren, most of whom live out of Houston. We travel frequently to see our grandchildren participate in athletic and school events. My wife and I square danced for several years and are having monthly meals with several of the couples. We also participate in a Bible study group twice a year. I enjoy watching the Houston Astros and the challenge of solving a Sudoku puzzle. I sometimes compose an email newsletter to each of my family members. They anxiously await the next edition of family updates, events, jokes and trivia.
Q: Are you involved in any community/volunteer activities?
I have volunteered at the Houston Food Bank and with the Knights of Columbus service organization. For the past two years, I have been a board member of the Houston Williams/Transco Retiree Club and am privileged to work with individuals who are loyal and dedicated in providing an environment for retirees to continue their lasting relationships.
Q: What has been your favorite thing about retirement?
I have really enjoyed having flexibility, having no alarm clock and trying to keep the mind, body and spiritual aspects of my life organized and active. I also love having extra time to establish closer relationships with family and friends.
Q: Is there anything you’d like other retirees to know?
Continue to learn and keep your mind alert and your body active. Join the Retiree Club — it’s a great way to stay involved.
